Moodbidri: 'Alva's Virasat' National Cultural Festival from January 5

Moodbidri, Dec 25: Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Dr M Mohan Alva, said that the annual national festival of culture, ‘Alva’s Virasat’ will be held at Shobhavana in Mijar near here from January 5 to 8. The festival is being held under the aegis of the said foundation, he added.
He said that Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, will inaugurate the festival at 6 pm on January 5. The inaugural will be presided over by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade. Nitte Education Trust president, Dr N Vinaya Hegde, managing director of A J Group of Institutions, A J Shetty, entrepreneur, Shashikiran Shetty, MLA, Abhay Chandra Jain, MLC, Capt Ganesh Karnik, former minister, K Amarnath Shetty, Canara Bank Mangalore circle deputy general manager, Dasaiah, Karnataka Bank managing director, P Jayaram Bhat, Nadoja G Shankar, Gold Finch managing director, K Prakash Shetty, entrepreneur, N Balakrishna, and Prasannakumar Shetty of KLN Engineering Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, will take part as chief guests, he explained.
On this occasion, awards function will also be hosted.
The details of cultural programmes to be presented during the festival are as follows:
January 5: Violin concert by Vidwan Ganesh and Kumaresh Brothers from Chennai – 7.15 to 8.45. Bhangra and other folk dances of Punjanb – 8.45 pm to 10 pm.
January 6: Shiva the Musical Thunder programme from 6 to 8 pm, to be presented by Shiva Fusion Group Chennai. Spellbound Odyssey group dance programme by Ram Li Ibrahim and group frp, Kuala Lumpur.
January 7: Grammy Award winning artiste, Pandit Vishwamohan Bhat on Mohan Veena, and Surmani Pandit Pravin Ghodkindi onflute. Thereafter, Aditi Mangaldas troupe will present Kathak dance.
January 8: A special musical fusion, ‘Moksha’ ,will be presented by Mahesh Vinayakram and troupe, Chennai. A programme of light music will be presented by Raghu Deekshit, M D Pallavi and troupe from 7.30 to 9.30 pm that day.
Alva added that all these programmes will begin on schedule. On all the days of the festival, magical skills of renowned magician, Kudroli Ganesh, will be on display. Besides, colourful dance programmes will be presented by students of Alva’s Group of Educational Institution, he revealed.
