Udupi: Fernandes Group’s Ruchik Family Restaurant, Celebration Lawns inaugurated

Udupi, Dec 24: The newly established Ruchik Family Restaurant, Ruchik Catering and Kitchen, and Celebration Lawns, a venture by the renowned Fernandes Group, was inaugurated on the Bantakal-Kaup road in Shirva on December 22.

The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was performed by Celina Fernandes and Alice Mendonca, marking the official launch of the establishment.

Fr Henry Mascarenhas, parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Pamboor, blessed the restaurant in a religious ceremony, followed by a formal inaugural event that began with the lighting of the lamp.

Speaking at the event, Suresh Shetty Gurme, MLA of Kaup, emphasized the importance of humble beginnings, saying, “Only those who have experienced poverty truly understand the struggles of others. All great things start small, and I wish this initiative creates more employment in the Kaup constituency. Helping others is the key to finding peace within ourselves. Let us also strive to repay our debt to our land and water. I wish this venture great success.”

Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake lauded the transformation of an old house into the new establishment, saying, “With his extensive business experience, Wilson has achieved remarkable success. This new venture reminds me of another successful restaurant in Bannanje. Similarly, I am confident this endeavour will flourish just as his previous initiatives have.”

Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, advocate and former chief of the Coastal Development Authority of Karnataka, acknowledged the impact of Fernandes' initiatives, stating, “Wilson Fernandes has made significant contributions to reducing unemployment in Shirva. The quality and affordability of the food here stand out. A business thrives with the community's support, and Wilson's ventures benefit the entire village.”

Wilson Rodrigues, vice president of Shirva gram panchayat, pledged support for new businesses, saying, “We wholeheartedly support ventures that foster the village's growth. Though challenges may arise, it is essential to encourage businesses to strengthen our community.”

BJP leader K P Jagadish Adhikari commended the harmonious environment of Bantakal and said, “Businesses like these generate valuable employment for the youth. The Fernandes Group has created jobs locally and abroad. Wilson’s integrity and vision ensure this venture’s success.”

Steven Colaco welcomed the gathering and compered the event.

Other dignitaries present included former gram panchayat president K R Patkar, proprietor and MD of Fernandes Group Wilson and Leena Fernandes, Celine Fernandes, Alice Mendonca, NRI entrepreneur Melroy Mascarenhas, Sunil, vice president of Pamboor Church Pastoral Council, and Dr Vincent Alva, principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur.

Ruchik Family Multi-Cuisine Restaurant is a new addition by Fernandes Group, located in the fast-developing Bantakal area under Shirva gram panchayat.
