Madrid, Dec 24 (IANS): The draw for the last 16 of the Spanish Copa del Rey knockout tournament has the possibility of the two biggest teams in Spain, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, meeting each other in the quarter-finals.

Barcelona will play Osasuna while Real Madrid take on Malaga in their opening rounds. Should the top two premier La Liga sides progress as expected, they would clash in the quarter-final, reports Xinhua

Last season saw Real Madrid defeat Barcelona in the final of the Copa thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo goal. But Barcelona took revenge winning the league and knocking Real Madrid out of the Champions League semis.

This season also saw Barcelona defeat Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup. A fortnight ago they worsted Real 3-1 at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium before jetting off to Japan, where they were proclaimed Club World Club Champions after defeating Brazilian side Santos.
