Moodbidri: Punjab University Triumph at National Inter-Varsity Athletics Meet

Moodbidri, Dec 22: Punjab University of Patiala bagged the athletics inter-varsity championship at the 72nd All India inter-varsity athletics competitions held at Swarajya Maidan on Wednesday December 21. The five-day competitions were organized jointly by Rajeev Gandhi University, Bangalore, and Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri.
Punjab University bagged 9 golds, 4 silvers, and 2 bronzes to bag the overall championship.
M G University, Kottayam, were the runners-up and bagged 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 3 bronzes.
The men’s team of Punjab University bagged 5 golds, 3 silvers, and 1 bronze, while Kerala University bagged 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 2 bronzes.
The women’s team of Calicut University bagged 3 golds, 5 silvers, and 4 bronzes, while Mangalore University bagged 3 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze; Punjab University bagged 3 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze.
GNDU Amritsar University athlete Jagdish Singh was adjudged as the top athlete in men’s division, while Mangalore University’s Poovamma M R was adjudged top athlete in the women’s division.
Final Day Results:
Punjab University athletes Suresh Kumar and Rattan Lal Jat bagged first and second place in men’s half marathon respectively, while RTM Nagpur University athlete Nilesh Bodhe and Pune University athlete Anil Panwar were the runners-up.
Mangalore University (Alva’s College) athlete Sabeena bagged first place in women’s half marathon. University of Calicut athlete Remeswari M V bagged second place and Punjab University athletes Rooma Devi and Navjoban Kaur were runners-up in women’s half marathon.
Mangalore University (Alva’s College) athlete Veerendra bagged the first place in men’s 200 meters race, while University of Madras athlete Arumugam Manikanda bagged the second place in men’s 200 meters race. Kerala University athlete Niteesh Antony was the runner-up.
University of Calicut athlete Santhini V bagged first place in women’s 200 meters race, while Kannur University athlete Ammu K bagged second place. CCS University athlete Chaavi Sharawat bagged the third place.
Punjab University athletes Raji C T and Purnima Hembram bagged first and second place in women’s 84.0 centimeters 100 meters hurdles, while University of Calicut athlete Darsana M S bagged the third place.
University of Madras athlete J Surendhar bagged the first place in men’s 106.7 centimeters 110 meters hurdles, while Anna University athlete K Premkumar bagged second place, and Kannur University athlete Pinto Mathew bagged the third place.
VBSP University, Jaunpur, athlete Harvendra Singh bagged the first place in men’s 7.26 kg hammer throw, while University of Rajasthan athlete Neeraj Kumar bagged the second place. HNBG University Srinagar athlete Sachin Kumar and Chatrapathi Shahuji athlete Chandrodaya Narayan were the runners-up.
University of Calicut athlete Anusha K P bagged first place and M G University, Kottayam athlete Anoosha K K bagged second place in the women’s pole vault. Mangalore University athlete Dija K C bagged the third place.
Punjab University athlete Arpinder Singh and University of Madras athlete Rajasekar R bagged first and second place in the men’s triple jump while Bharathiar athlete Salahuddin and University of Coimbatore were the runners-up.
M G University, Kottayam, athlete Jinu Maria Manuel bagged the first place in women’s high jump, Kannur University athlete Steny Michael bagged the second place, University of Calicut athlete Sindhu K D and Kurukshetra University athlete Sunita were the runners-up.
University of Pune athlete Shine Soniya bagged the first place in the women’s 4.00 kg hammer throw while University of Rajasthan athlete Anita bagged the second place. VBSP University Jaunpur athlete Sonam bagged the third place.
Kerala University bagged the first place in men’s 4 x 400 mt relay, MDU – Rohtak bagged the second place, and Mangalore University bagged the third place.
University of Calicut bagged the first place in women’s 4 X 400 mt relay, MG University, Kottayam, bagged the second place and Kannur University bagged the third place.
