Kasargod, Dec 21: The policemen, who have been interrogating Shijo (33) from Kannur Chulali Naduvil Eleyannur, a cleaner of a truck, relating to the murder of Sukumaran (36), a truck driver from Kannur, have found that he was also involved with another murder in the past at Bangalore.
The policemen have learnt that arrest warrant had been issued against Shijo by a Bangalore court for stabbing a citizen of Bangalore to death with a knife. In addition, Shijo also faces the charge of injuring his own father with a sword some time back.
Sukumaran and Shijo had arrived at Ichlangodu Bajpe Kadavu on the night of December 13 in their truck. Both of them had consumed liquor in the cabin thereafter. In an inebriated state, both were involved with verbal altercations in which they reportedly passed derogatory remarks about one another’s wives.
Shijo, in a fit of anger, pushed Sukumaran out of the cabin, and hit his head with the handle of a hoe. Seriously injured Sukumaran had died in a private hospital in Mangalore on December 15.
Kumble circle inspector of police, T P Ranjit, said that the police custody of Shijo, who is presently in judicial custody, will be sought soon to undertake further investigation.
