Kasargod: Police Bust Prostitution Racket, Arrest Five

Kasargod, Dec 21: Hosadurga police have arrested five persons including two women in connection with a prostitution racket that was being carried out in a hotel here.
Abdulla (42) of Pallikere, Shihabuddin alias Rehman (25) of Manikoth, Hotel manager Ashraf (46) of Moonamkadu, Ayisha (41) of Vidya Nagara Chala Road of Kasargod and Afsath (41) of Poochakkad are the arrested.
The prostitution racket was going on in hotel Kaveri in Pollakada, Pullur besides the National Highway in Kanhangad.
Police also seized a car, bike and five mobile handsets along with Rs 6000. The hotel owner Salam of Panatthor has been booked as the 6th accused in this case.
Earlier too, there had been complaints about this hotel that it was carrying out prostitution, and police had kept high vigil.
On Tuesday December 20 evening the accused booked two rooms in the hotel. The local people informed police about the activities and a team led by Hosadurga circle inspector K V Venugopal conducted the raid.
At first the accused defended themselves claiming they were all relatives, but later it was ascertained by the police that it was a prostitution racket.
The arrested have undergone medical test and have been produced before the court in Hosadurga. They have been remanded in two weeks of judicial custody on Wednesday.
