Kasargod, Dec 21: It was a time to rejoice for this family from Kurumajalu, Narampady near Badiyadka junction, as they re-united with the prime member of the family Antony, who had left home 20 long years ago.
Antony, son of the late Joseph, was married and had two daughters Laveena and Flavina. When the younger daughter was two years old, Antony left home following a quarrel with his wife and never returned. The family searched everywhere for him, but in vain.
Last week, Joseph Crasta, managing trustee of Snehalaya Charitable Trust received a call saying that a person by the name of Antony, who was with a woman, was asking for him and wants to meet him. "He doesn’t seem in a stable mental condition," the caller had told Joseph.
Though Joseph Crasta did not know anyone by that name, he went to Kasargod to check out what was the matter and who the man was.
On his arrival at Kasargod Joseph met Antony and the woman (Rani) who was with him. On inquiring, he came to know about Antony’s whereabouts and he brought him to Snehalaya, Talapady. Antony had some problems with his health, and could not talk properly to Joseph but the lady could follow him and she repeated what he said to Joseph.
Joseph then took Antony to Yenepoya hospital for treatment.
Rani said that she and Antony were residing at Hosur and on his constant wish to see his family she made some attempts to find them and while trying to locate his father Joseph, she came across Joseph Crasta, because of the similarity in their names.
Joseph Crasta then found out about his family and informed them about Antony. They could not believe that it could be him. Yet they arrived at the Ashram. Antony’s wife is no more. But his two children, his brother and mother came to the Ashram and were astonished to see him and overjoyed at the same time.
Rani seemed to have high regards for Antony as she said he was the one who looked after her when she was in need and she owed a lot to him. But she was willing to let him join his family and felt that they have first right on him.
Now that the family members have come and recognized him, they have agreed to take him home and have also agreed to take Rani too, who looked after him all this time. As they say, all’s well that ends well.
