Udupi, Dec 21: “Corruption is rampant in all spheres including educational, medical, and religious centers. The educated are more into corruption and this stresses the need for educational reforms. The corrupt are deciding whether law and order is essential to society, the need for appointing Lokayukta. It’s impossible to stem corruption by mere slogans and speeches,” said Mubin Ullal, research scholar, Manipal University.
He was speaking at a campaign on ‘A Society Free From Evils’ that was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami-Hind, Malpe unit, at Lions Seva Bhavan, Malpe, on Monday December 19.
“Greed is the cause for all evils and if that is curbed no one will ever trespass the rights of others. One can find happiness by being happy with whatever he has. Strengthening moral values in a human being can curb corruption as also one’s living with the fear of the divine and a conscience that makes him accountable for all wrongdoings in this earthly life. One should develop accountability that corruption is a crime and sin.
It’s the duty of the responsible citizen to raise his voice against all social evils. A healthy society will prevail if the just in the society collectively work towards stemming social evils,” added Ullal.
Government Pre-University College retired lecturer Madhav Jattanna, retired Colonel M K Kumar, town council members Jayasree Krishnaraj, Meenakshi, and Anandi were also present.
