Udupi: Manini State Women’s Union organizes Human Rights Day

Udupi, Dec 11: The Manini State Women's Union organized a Human Rights Day celebration programme at the Anugraha Pastoral Center of Udupi diocese. The function was inaugurated by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of the diocese of Udupi, who lit the lamp and inaugurated the programme.

He called upon the women to gain knowledge about the constitution and human rights, strengthen their organizations by strengthening self-help groups at the grassroots level, and make their mark in the state-level union.

Lawyer Junia Monalisa Barboza gave detailed information about the violation of human rights and privacy rights in the digital age and how women fall victim to this due to their lack of knowledge.

Ganga Kulal welcomed the gathering. Geetha Sunil proposed the vote of thanks. Janet Barboza compered the programme. Sunita and Renuka conducted the prayer service. Sister Nancy Lobo, honorary president of the Manini State Women's Union, and president Manjula John were present on the occasion. All members of the Sugamya District Women's Union of Udupi district participated.
