Sullia, Dec 20: The taluk unit of BJP has demanded for a judicial inquiry into the recent incident including stone pelting at police station, arrest of BJP leaders, and police atrocities on them. Addressing a press conference here on Monday December 19, BJP president, Venkat Dambekody, urged for the judicial probe, and for punishing the police and other officials found guilty of wrongdoings.

“The policemen, taking shelter under the stone pelting incident, have unnecessarily booked BJP leaders and activists, besides brutally assaulting them. The people lose patience because of painstakingly slow process of settling cases. Police personnel have forced their entry into houses when women were alone at night, before mentally torturing the family members. A complaint will be lodged with the state women’s commission in this connection. Human Rights Commission will also be approached relating to atrocities on innocent people,” he announced.

He said that the people got angry, after seeing that the policemen had arranged to take the youth they had taken into custody to the remand home in the same car in which they had come. He accused the policemen of giving rise to this incident by their own mistake in handling this case. “People who provided information to the police about illegal sale of beef at Sampaje, and those who crossed over to BJP recently, have been made scapegoats in this incident. Political interference is clear in the police high-handedness,” he stressed.

MLA, Angara, Karnataka Forest Development Federation president, S N Manmatha, taluk panchayat president, Keshava Bhat Muliya, leaders, Umesh Wagle, P G S N Prasad, A V Teertharam, and Shivananda were present.
