Udupi, Dec 11: Krishna Naik, the sculptor behind the Parashurama statue at the Karakal theme park, has been granted bail by the second additional district and sessions court of Udupi. Naik was arrested in Puducherry in connection with allegations of constructing a counterfeit Parashurama statue at the Parashurama Theme Park in Bailoor.

Naik had earlier filed an anticipatory bail application, which was initially rejected by the Udupi Additional District and Sessions Court on Thursday, November 7. Following this, police intensified their search efforts.

The allegations claim that through his company, Krish Art World, Naik accepted Rs 1.25 crore from Udupi Nirmiti Kendra to install a bronze statue of Parashurama at the theme park. However, he is accused of constructing a counterfeit statue, defrauding the government. A complaint was filed by Krishna Shetty of Nallur in June, leading to the registration of the case at Karkala Town police station.

Senior advocate Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, along with his junior counsel, represented the accused in court.
