Bantwal, Dec 19: “I resigned from my position as the Chief Minister of Karnataka under instructions from the BJP high command. Times are changing, and an atmosphere that is congenial to me is forming again. If the high command so decides, I am prepared to lead the state administration again,” said former Karnataka chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa.
He was speaking to reporters after taking part in ‘Vajapeya Somayaga’ being performed in the premises of Nandagokula cow shelter near Narahari Temple near Kalladka in the taluk on Monday December 19 morning.
While insisting that D V Sadananda Gowda’s victory in the council poll is bygone conclusion, Yeddyurappa, in whatever he said, dropped broad hints to insist that favourable breeze is blowing for his reinstatement, and that he is prepared to take responsibilities as and when entrusted by the national leadership of the party.
He said that the Yaga is being conducted, seeking divine intervention to ensure that the state gets able leadership and that it moves ahead on fast track of good governance and development. “We are in a democracy, and the voter decides the fate of politicians. This Yaga is not in any way, being performed by keeping me or my interests in mind,” he hastened to clarify.
Replying to a question, he claimed that he has been taking part in most of the Yagas being conducted in Dakshina Kannada district, and that this Yaga too was not different. He asked the people not to link his visit to any personal motives, or draw inferences on their own.
It may be recalled that Yeddyurappa, who had taken part in this Yaga on December 6 during its initial stages, is on a second visit to the venue in less than a fortnight. He was present at the site of the Yaga early morning today, and took part in the ‘Poornahuti’ ritual conducted at around 11 am.
Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and his wife, who have been leading the Yaga, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna Palemar, MLCs, Capt Ganesh Karnik and Bharati Shetty, chairman of Coastal Development Authority, B Nagaraja Shetty, BJP district president, Padmanabha Kottary, and others were present.
