Mangalore, Dec 19: Two persons lost their lives in separate accidents which occurred at Yeyyady and Bendorewell respectively in the city on the night of Saturday and Sunday morning. The deceased have been identified as Ganesh (55) from Kuntalpady Shaktinagar, and Matyaraj from Bajal Kallakatta here.
After the motor cycle he was driving hit the road divider at around 3.10 am on Sunday Decenmber 18, Matyaraj suffered serious injuries and died on the spot. Mohammed Asif (31) from Udupi Bannanje, who was the pillion rider, sustained serious injuries. Asif is being treated in a hospital here. It is learnt that Matyaraj, partner of a call centre here, was escorting Asif to his home after duty hours, when the fateful accident occurred.
In another accident which occurred on Saturday night, Ganesh (55), a pedestrian, breathed his last after a two-wheeler hit him. Ganesh was crossing the road at Yeyyady at around 10 pm on Saturday, when an Active Honda scooter hit him. Ganesh, who suffered severe injuries, went to hospital, got treated there, and rested after reaching home. The family members, who observed that Ganesh continued to sleep till late on Sunday morning, tried to wake him up. They found that he had breathed his last in his sleep. Ganesh was working as a centring worker in construction industry.
His body was shifted to a hospital, and the policemen were informed. The policemen of traffic (east) police station in the city have registered a case, and begun investigation.
