Bhatkal: District Level Sports Meet Under MYSA Scheme for Disabled Held

Bhatkal, Dec 17: A district level sports meet was held here for the physically challenged students in the taluk under the MYAS scheme for disabled students of the Uttar Kannada district. There were various sports competitions, which are included in Special Olympics.

 

In the inauguration ceremony TMC president Inayatullah Shahbandari appreciated the appreciated teachers for the care and support they provide to the physically challenged students. He also said that students should give equal importance to studies and sports. This would help their overall personality growth.

N G Gowda and Malati Harish of Special Olympics India were present.


Jayshree Moger zilla panchayath member expressed happiness for such an event being organized in the taluk. Physically challenged children too are talented and they should be given proper encouragement, she added.

Social activist Vishnu Devadiga lauded the efforts of teachers and said that their efforts played an important role in the growth of the students.

A total of 225 Students from 7 institutes across the district participated in the competitions such as short-put, throw-ball and race. Winners of the district level competitions will qualify for the state level and then for the national level games.
