Kasargod, Dec 16: In a daylight burglary that occurred in the outskirts of the town on Thursday December 15 afternoon, the thieves decamped with valuables worth Rs 6.5 lac from the house of a bank manager. The house in question is located at Air Camp Road in Parekatte here.
The thieves targeted the house of Govinda Bhat, manager of Kunjattur branch of North Malbar Grameena Bank. Bhat was away at the bank, while wife, Rajeshwari, a physician by profession, was in her clinic. Both his children had been to college. The thieves gained entry into the house by bending the rods of the kitchen window, and took away 30 sovereigns of gold ornaments, 300 grams of silver valuables, and Rs 50,000 in cash, apart from wrist watch.
Parvati, a retired teacher and mother of Rajeshwari, who had visited the local treasury to collect her monthly pension, came back home to see that the house had been burgled. She passed on information to Govinda Bhat and his wife immediately.
Policemen, sniffer dogs, and finger print experts, visited the spot and made efforts to collect evidences. The thieves seem to be well aware of the movements of the family members. A case was registered.
