Sullia, Dec 16: Karnataka Chief Minister (CM), D V Sadananda Gowda, visited Lord Subrahmanyeshwara Temple in Subrahmanya in the taluk on Thursday December 15, and offered Panchamrita Mahabhisheka service to the Lord.  He was accompanied by wife, Dati, and son, Kartik.

The religious rituals connected with the procedure were performed by priest, Rajesh Nidwannaya. The CM also visited Samputa Narasimha Swamy Mutt, shrine of Hosaligamma attached to the temple, and Adi Subrahmanya Temple.

Gowda took part in the community feast after the puja. He said he had decided to visit the temple, as Ashlesha was the ruling star on Thursday, and this star is considered auspicious for performance of rituals at this temple. When questioned as to whether he was here to seek the blessings of the Lord on account of the coming council bypoll, he said he had prayed to the Lord for the general well-being of everyone.

About reports appearing in a section of the media about the appearance of a serpent near his family home three days back, the CM said he does not attach much importance to this incident, as serpents are known to move about in search of food.
