Udupi, Dec 16: The state administration released Rs 97.15 lac to the district through the Karnataka Minority Development Board for the development of Christians. Thirty-three percent of this amount is reserved for Christian women and three percent for the physically handicapped. Accordingly, the Board invites applications from eligible Christians by January 10, 2012.
Eligibility:
He / she should belong to Christian community, annual family income should be less than Rs 22,000 (for education loan, maximum limit is Rs 1 lac), within the age group of 18 years to 55 years, copies of ration card, bank pass book, quotation, passport photo, and application should be enclosed.
Artisan loan scheme:
Rural artisans and petty professionals belonging to the Christian community can avail loans up to a maximum of Rs 25,000 at an interest rate of 4 percent. Twenty-five percent this loan will be considered as back end assistance.
Micro loan scheme:
The funds will be provided through self-help-groups for Christian petty traders to begin small businesses. The beneficiaries are entitled for a maximum of Rs 2,5000.
Education loan:
These are the direct loans that will be provided from a minimum of Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000 annually at an interest rate of 2 percent for Christian community to pursue MBBS, engineering, BCA, MCA, M Com, MA, MSc, B H, MBA, T Ch, nursing, diploma and other professional courses.
