Mangaluru, Nov 29: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has adorned the walls of government schools around its vicinity with vibrant and educational paintings.

The project aims to create an environment conducive to learning, delighting students in these schools. The wall paintings feature a variety of educational and cultural content, including maps of India and other countries, Dakshina Kannada and other states, information on flowers like roses, diagrams illustrating digestion processes, heart and liver functioning, scenes of farmers' daily lives, plantain crops, paddy fields, and tilling of land. They also include portraits of notable Karnataka literati and schematic diagrams on various subjects.

In the past, students needed to refer to textbooks for the information now displayed on the walls. These visually engaging paintings not only simplify learning but also make schools more attractive to students. Teachers can use the paintings as teaching aids, taking students to the walls for detailed explanations instead of drawing maps or diagrams on blackboards. The clear and colourful visuals make it easier for students to grasp concepts. Schools in areas like Chelaru, Kuthettur, and Soorinje have been part of this initiative.

MRPL, known for its consistent involvement in social welfare projects, focuses on education, health, cleanliness, and infrastructure development. Over the years, it has invested several crores in such activities. This latest initiative, which uses graffiti to enhance education and learning, has once again garnered public appreciation.

Valerian Lobo, the artist behind the project, shared, "The walls are painted with images related to students' lessons, with the primary goal of creating an environment favourable to education. This arrangement, funded through MRPL's CSR grant, significantly aids in children's learning."
