Belthangady, Dec 13: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) organized ‘Yuva Sambhram” for the youth of Varado at St Francis Xavier Church on Sunday December 11.
The youth director of Mangalore Diocese Fr Anil D’Souza was the main celebrant for the Eucharist. Sr Michelle, the lady animator was also present.
Fr Anil cited the message of Pope Benedict XVI delivered during the World Youth Day and said that the theme ‘Accept the challenge and move forward with hope’ is apt for Yuva Sambhram programme.
Sebastian Pais, lecturer in St Philomena’s Puttur from Arva was the resource person, he wonderfully dealt the topic ‘Youth life is a challenge’ with lots of innovative ideas, anecdotes, personal experience and group discussions.
Various competitions like Konkanni group song, Bible stills, Quiz and One minute games were organized in the afternoon for the enthusiastic participants.
Belthangady ICYM unit emerged as the ‘Yuva Sambhram’ champions and Indubettu ICYM unit won the runners-up position in the competitions held.
Vicar of Varado Fr James D’Souza in his presidential address at the valedictory ceremony appreciated the youngsters for their zeal and commitment in participating in both Varado and diocesan programmes.
Vice president of Indubettu William and Frederick Rodrigues were the chief guests for the ceremony. Diocesan youth president Mishal in his address appreciated the youth and wished them well.
Varado president Deril welcome the gathering, where as Nelson Monis and Melisha Sequeira compered.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Varado youth director Fr Simon D’Souza, where in around 165 youth from various parishes of Varado participated.
