Bangalore : Katta, son and Itasca MD Get Bail

Bangalore, Dec 13 (DHNS): Former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and his son and corporator Katta Jagadish finally got some relief from the Special Lokayukta Court as they were granted bail on Monday. Another accused, Itasca Software company Managing Director S V Srinivas, also obtained bail.

The judgment came as a big relief to the trio, who made multiple failed attempts to obtain bail since their remand to judicial custody on July 8, 2011. But the court has imposed stringent conditions on Katta Jagadish and Srinivas. All three are accused in the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) land scam case. Counsels for the accused have also submitted that they would not seek adjournment of the case. The matter will come up for hearing again on December 16.

While Katta Subramanya had received interim bail from the High Court, it had also directed him to approach the Special Lokayukta Court if he wanted to travel abroad for treatment.

Katta Subramanya’s counsel submitted that he needed to travel to London to begin treatment immediately for cancer and he had already taken an appointment with Royal Free Hampstead hospital on December 19. He also submitted that Katta Subramanya needed to be present at the hospital five days before his appointment to undergo tests.

The court observed that it had taken note of his physical appearance when he presented himself before it for the bail.
