Mangalore: Awe-Struck Locals Watch Convoy of War Tankers

Mangalore, Dec 13: In what could be termed as a ‘rare show’, on Monday December 12, the people on National Highway 66 were spellbound by the sight of three huge war tankers passing through the Thokkottu-Pumpwell area.
The tanks T-72 were displayed at the ‘Indian Army Mela’ held in Kannur, Kerala, from December 8 - 10.
Defense minister A K Antony took part in that event which exhibited the war tankers of the Indian army for the awareness civilian for their general knowing.
After the Mela was over on December 10, the three huge war tankers made the journey to Hyderabad. Three war tankers with two persons in each started from Kannur, passed through Kasargod, and reached Mangalore on their journey towards Bangalore before reaching Hyderabad finally.
The army men were also found carrying kerosene stoves and cooking for themselves. When asked the reason, they said that since food of their choice may not be available all through their journey and as it would be expensive to eat in hotels, they preferred this.
They also informed that such war tankers were just for display and not fired for demonstration purposes. He said that they got the required range to fire such war tankers only in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan in the country and nowhere else.
