Mangalore, Dec 12: Anadhi V Shetty, daughter of Vijayendra  and Poornima V Shetty, Tanisha Claire Dias, daughter of Roanne and Sammy Dias, and Aarush Shetty, son of Prashanth and Likhitha Shetty emerged the first, second and third prize winners, respectively, in the Children’s Photogenic Contest organized by Vivek Studio.

The contest marked Vivek Studio's 15th anniversary celebration and the prize distribution ceremony was held at St Sebastian Hall here on Monday December 12.
 
Maand Sobhann gurkar Eric Ozario, Daijiworld editor-in-chief Walter Nandalike, Anil Coelho (Annu Bejai), Arul D’Souza (Crystal studio, Shirva), Times of India photojournalist Ravi Posavanike were the chief guests on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Ravi Posavanike appreciated Vivek Studio for organizing a photogenic contest for children below 5 years. Being one of the jury, Posavanike said that it was a tough job to select the best photo as all kids were good, healthy looking and posed smartly.
 
Congratulating the winners, Walter Nandalike said that Vivek Sequeira of Vivek Studio had come up through hard work. "Vivek started his career as small time photographer from Mangalore, and today is winning international awards, which is truly commendable."

Anil Coelho said that children were God's reflection on earth and that it was a difficult task judging the entries, which was done after three rounds of selection.
 
Eric Ozario, gurkar of Maand Sobhann launched the new website www.vivekstudio.com and said that the online portal would inform visitors about package details available in Vivek Studio for photography for various occasions. The site would showcase the creativity of Vivek Studio, he added, and urged parents to encourage their children to participate in many more contests.
 
Vivek Sequiera dedicated his success to his parents and studio staff for their support.
 
The first prize was a 14 mega pixel digital camera, second prize a 12 mega pixel digital camera, and third prize a 10 mega pixel digital camera, besides 15x20 inches photo lamination. There were also five consolation prizes.

    I appreciate the good qualities of mr Vivek explained by Mr. Kotian, though i do not know who is mr Kotian is. But i feel i am correct in my sentence what Mr Kotian has repeated. Many parents with the photos taken by other photographer went to the studio which was not accepeted.If it is contest supporting the photography in general organiser would have either accepted photography of any other photographer and would have rewarded photographer also.In these type of celeberations ethical business man will spend rather charging. All good qualities of the organiser gone for six due to one sided rules and regulations. ELLA BANNA MASI NUNGITHU. Congrats Mr Vivek for completing 15 years. Next time during 25th year pls keep better contests which really promots field of photography. @Samyuktha ji,Here i have not critisized the sucess of Mr. Vivek but the system.Let us accept the fact.

    I had a chance to read your comments and it appears to me that you have been either paid by someone to vent your views here without even having the proper understanding on what the real issue and put likes on the comments from various different computers...or you are one among the organizer who is trying to justify this event. In both the case, Good luck to you and your benefactors.

    Mr Nannu, fine, the rules and regulations were informed well in advance, so? There are no free meals in the world, hope you know that. Organizing an event like this also cannot be done for free, there is money involved, plus, there were so many prizes distributed. Please read the whole article and see what prizes were given to the winners. All that requires money. Plus, the studio has taken the opportunity of clicking so many children's photos, organize the whole thing, and the parents don't just walk off like that, even if they have not won they sure are taking back their children's portraits right? So at whose cost was all this done? This is all common sense. You said "Take the photographs at customer's cost and participate", why are you looking at only one angle of the whole event? If I am a photographer, and if I would have to click a photo of a customer, will I do it for free? I am giving you the child's photo, for some money of course, if I happen to like the photo, I will promote the child as a winner. Simple! Is that difficult to understand? Grow up people! Jesus!

    Vivek,
    We are often surrounded by people of such mentality = crab mentality. People who cannot see the success of other people. I think what you have done is highly appreciable and have also achieved a standard that no other person has. You have set the standards of photography real high. No others have done such a competition before. Really good.

    And more over there is no business without profit. Yes photographs have been taken at customer's cost but the winner at the end is a customer only right? It is a business on one hand and a competition on the other.

    What is surprising is that people of your own community are pulling you down. Really sad. People need to appreciate rather than crib. You have brought mlore's name before the world as being one of the best photographers.

    We are looking forward to seeing more such competitions from u team vivek. All the best in your endeavours.

    First of all, I'd like to congratulate Vivek on the 15th year in the business. And for Mr. Alexander, I really don't understand whats bothering you so much in someone else's success. Come on let's face it. No doubt there are children suffering and dieing of hunger all over the world. Instead of passing comments, I think you should take an initiative, and if you already have, then please show it to the world. Your comparison to Vivek's contest and doing something for the hungry children makes no sense at all. If that was the case, then all the parents would not have appeared for the contest. It's not about winning the contest. Yes, those who deserved it have won. But those who didn't win, am sure they have not gone back empty handed, practically speaking they have taken back memories of their children with them, and that's what photography is all about man. A good snap shot stops a moment from running away. If you are a photographer you would understand the importance of a photograph, and that's what all the participants were there for. If you have a better idea, then be it. Hold a competition of what you think is right, no one will stop you. People will surely appreciate you. But don't discourage someone like this. It takes a lot of effort to conduct such an event and make it a success and such comments passed by people like you can reduce someone's market value that was created over the past 15 years in a few seconds. So please watch your words.

    Dear Mr. Gerald, Modankap/Bantwal,
    Actually my problem here is people like you who accepts and appreciate each and everything that is happnning around you and me. Who has not guts and courage to stand up to the cause.
    My simple question to you and I would like you to ask this question to yourself and answer it honestly. What exactly is the achievements or what exactly is come out of this Program? Just few pictures of well to do kids. Have you ever thought of taking pictuers of street children and nourishing them with some nutritional food. Yes, the organizer of this program could have done that instead of this program?? Don't you think you should now atleast give a serious thought about this!!! I know very well that you have lost your ability of thinking straight!!!

For the arrangament of this competation ,you are not a simple photographer you are the asset of mangalore ,just from side of you the mangalorian photographers are getting a lot of respect . Doing a photography is not a easy job ,its a TALENT .Dont tensd that people comeniting negatively on you ,keep up your own posstive sperite .Gving negative comments is common in every b'ness .

    Dear Mr. Rahul Kotian, Udupi/Kuwait, Thank you for enlightening me about your role model. I am interested in knowing from you, what are the good things you have done to the society after taking a cue from your role model. Well please don't talk if you do not know the good things others are doing for the society, including me. Tell me one good thing that has come out from this whole episode of awards? Has anyone benefitted from it. Did you see or are you aware of thousands of small children that are languishing on the streets of India who were denied of this opportunity. I would have appreciated your your role model if something had been done for those children. Come on! your appreciation does not support anything here dear Kotian. Giving employment and teaching the secrets of photograpy is altogether a different thing and goes hand in hand with a life cycle in business. He needs to give employment to people if he wants to expand his business and grow up in his trade. I am sure you are not dumb to understand this!

    Hi Vivek congrats !!! on your successful 15 year carrier in Photography. Don't worry about your critics. I am surprised of Mr. Alexander's comments on Vivek . He may not know today you are role model for the young aspiring talented guys who wanted make their carrier as a photographer. You have proved That even Petrol Bunk employee can reach the highest level . I know thousands of people today associated with you whose daily bread comes from your business. Hundreds of Families today thankful to you.
    You have never disappointed any people who came to you to learn photography &you taught them secrets of your business.Recently when i visited Kolkotta to attend a wedding of my friend, i happened to meet official photographer over there. I introduced him that i am Mangalorean. For my surprise he asked me whether i know Vivek?. He said Vivek is his role model !!!.
    I really felt proud to be a Mangaloean!!!.
    Shame on these people who are passing only negative comments.They never done any good things in their life ,they never do it, neither they allow anybody to do good things.

    Recently lot of award giving ceremony is being done in M'lore.Photographers busy clicking and publishing photoes all the time through media.Some busy giving awards,some busy recieving awards.You give me award today ,after 1 month I will give you award in return.One day it will be like Fisherman selling fishes changes his tone like "ini meen ijji award boda award boda noodek aiwa?

    I fail to understand what is the purpose of this whole advertising propoganda from Vivek Studio? I can see hardly fewer audiences than people on the stage. I don't understand if anything is achieved to the betterment of the society in general.

    This competition held to celebrate 15 th year of the studio at the cost of customer.Dear friends pls read the rules below for the contest Guidelines & Rules for the contest.

    Your child should be below 5 years age, Photo should be shot at either Vivek Studio-Bikarnakatta or vivek Studio-Kadri, Minimum size of the photo should be 6x8,Any number of photos can be shot and specify for the photogenic competition, preference will be given to natural photos,parent Must be with their child(photographer should not be blamed if child being cranky and if don’t co-operate),costumes/fancy item will not be provided,All participants will receive an attractive gift hamper,Rs 1000/- and above bill will get a surprise gift,all decisions are made by the judging panel and are final,ed 50 best photographs will be uploaded on the website: www.vivekstudio.com

    None of the rules are favouring to contestant.Means take the photographs at customer's cost and participate. What a way of business. Hope daiji will publish this comment which will prove the neutrality of the media.
