Mulky: 17 Injured in Head-on Collision Between Buses

Mulky, Dec 11: As many as 17 passengers were injured in a head-on collision that occurred on national highway 66 on Sunday December 11 afternoon between two buses.
The accident took place close to Pavanje bridge near Mulky at around noon, when a private bus plying from Mangalore to Shimoga (via Udupi), in a bid to overtake a lorry, collided with another bus commuting from Karkala to Mangalore.
Fifteen passengers of Mangalore-Shimoga bus and two in Karkala-Mangalore bus sustained minor injuries.
All the injured have been treated in Srinivas Hospital, Mukka and Padmavathi hospital, Surathkal. The bus after collision veered towards a paddy field beside the national highway.
Traffic was disrupted for about an hour. A case has been registered in Suratkal police station.
