Mangalore, Dec 7: Different milk producers unions across the state have approached Karnataka Milk Federation, with a demand to hike milk prices. The demand is in tune with the rising cost of production, and the prices of milk prevalent in neighbouring states.
At present, different qualities of milk is being marketed by KMF at prices ranging from Rs 22 to 26. If the above demand is considered favourably, the new milk prices will be between Rs 25 and 30.
KMF is also considering upward revision in the prices of milk, in view of increased cost of producing plastic sachets, maintenance cost of freezer units, rise in cost of fuel, etc.
