Pune, Dec 6 (IANS): In a shocking incident, a father of four hanged his children before committing suicide Tuesday following a tiff with his wife here, police said. One child was, however, saved.

The man has been identified as Chandrashekhar Janardan Ranaware, 45, resident of Baner Road.

"Out of Ranaware's two daughters and two sons, three were killed. His daughter Dhanashree, 10, was saved," police officer M.N. Wadekar told IANS.

The dead children were identified as Komal, 8, Shreyas, 6, and Shivam, 4.

"According to Dhanashree, her parents had a tiff over something on Nov 23 and her mother had left home since. Ranaware used to stay aloof after that," Wadekar added.

Police have, however, not found any suicide note from Ranaware's residence. "We are trying to get more information from Dhanashree. But she is in shock and does not talk much," Wadekar said.

"Bodies of the deceased have been sent for the post-mortem examination and we are waiting for its report to get a clearer picture. Following the report, we will look for and question Ranaware's wife and neighbours," he added.
