Mumbai: Gammath Kalavider UAE triumphs in Kannada Sangha Sion with ‘Va Galigedu Putudana’

Mumbai, Oct 29: Mumbai experienced a cultural milestone as Gammath Kalavider UAE enchanted over 1,500 Tulu drama enthusiasts with their celebrated comedy-drama, Va Galigedu Putudanaa, at Kurla Bantara Bhavana on Sunday October 27. Hosted under the esteemed patronage of Kannada Sangha Sion and led by Dr M J Praveen Bhat, this historic event marked the first performance by a Tulu drama troupe from Dubai in Mumbai, showcasing the enduring appeal of Tulu culture in India.

Following its successful debut in Dubai, the Mumbai performance of Va Galigedu Putudana was met with tremendous acclaim. Written by Sandeep Shetty Rayee and directed by Ranga Sarathi Vishwanath Shetty from Dubai, the play offered an engaging blend of humor and powerful storytelling that resonated deeply with the audience. Shubhakar Belapu’s vibrant musical accompaniment, along with technical support from renowned drama expert Jagadish Shetty of Kenchanakere, elevated the experience for everyone present.

The event, organized seamlessly by Kannada Sangha Sion and Dr M J Praveen Bhat, included a warm welcome for Gammath Kalavider UAE president Lavina Fernandes and the entire troupe. The audience enjoyed an evening that was flawlessly coordinated and full of memorable moments.

At a grand gathering in Mumbai attended by prominent dignitaries and business leaders, the event was blessed by Kemaru Esha Vitaladasa Swamiji. The occasion was further enriched by the presence of renowned humorist Satish Bandale, as well as the celebrated ‘Savyasachi’ Lion Kishore D Shetty, a patron and leader of drama groups, and Satish Poojary, president of Sharjah Karnataka Sangha.

During the event, on behalf of Gammath Kalavider UAE, the team expressed heartfelt gratitude and honored Dr M J Praveen Bhat, president of Sion Kannada Sangha Mumbai, for the opportunity provided to perform. The president of Gammath Kalavider UAE, Lavina Fernandes, also attended and conveyed appreciation for the Kannada Sangha president, all its members, and supporters, recognizing their significant contribution in making the Mumbai performance a success. She expressed a wish for continued support across communities to uphold Tulu language and culture through ongoing collaborative efforts in the region.

The talented cast featuring Suvarna Sathish, Vasukumar Shetty, Girish Narayan, Samantha Girish, Deepthi Dinraj, Irene Cynthia Mendonca, Janet Sequeira, Monappa Poojary, Ramesh Suvarna, Gowtham Bangera, Jasmitha Vivek, Sannidhi Vishwanath Shetty, Roopesh Shetty, Sandeep Barke, Jesh Bayar, Deeksha Rai, Harish Kamath, Ganesh Kotian, and Vincy Lobo delivered outstanding performances that captivated the crowd.
