Beltangady, Oct 29: The Christian Premier League (CPL) 2024 Shuttle Badminton Tournament, organized by the Badminton Sports Club, Madanthyar, brought together badminton enthusiasts from across Udupi and Mangalore Dioceses. With 130 players competing, the event showcased remarkable sportsmanship and teamwork.
The inaugural ceremony was hosted by Reshma Moras from Taccode, who ensured a warm and vibrant welcome to all attendees. Dr Stany Gomes parish priest of Madanthyar parish, officially inaugurated the event. Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira, principal of Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar, Kadri Ivan Pinto, sports promoter, and Vinay D’Souza, director of the Catholic Credit Co-operative Society, Beltangady, joined as chief guests, supporting the spirit of the tournament.
The CPL was coordinated by Jaison Moras, owner of Sports Garrage Madanthyar, with Fr Anil Avild Lobo, parish priest of Naynadu parish, as the mentor, adding guidance and encouragement.

The tournament featured six teams:
1. Angel Smashers (Madanthyar) – Owned by Leo Noronha
2. Roy Rockers (Udupi) – Owned by Alwyn Pinto
3. Souza Warriors (Puttur) – Owned by Manoj D’Souza
4. WBA (Kadaba) – Owned by Philip C Paul
5. Coastal Stars (Mangaluru) – Owned by Dolphy and Anil
6. Messiah Masters (Nainad) – Owned by Lancy D’Souza
Results
The Roy Rockers (Udupi) emerged as champions, led by owner Alwyn Pinto, and Angel Smashers (Madanthyar), owned by Leo Noronha, took the runners-up spot. Each game was met with great enthusiasm, highlighting the skill and dedication of the players.
