Mangalore, Dec 3: The three-day annual feast at Blessed Joseph Vaz pilgrimage shrine and parish, Mudipu, was held from Wednesday November 30 to Friday December 2. The festal celebration had the theme ‘Family: Dear Plan of God’.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza concelebrated the festal Holy Mass at Mudipu parish on Wednesday.
The Bishop, in his homily, stressed the role of parents in nurturing Christian values among their children.
Mudipu former parish priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, Ranipura–Rishivan director Fr John Sequeira, Fr Walter D’Souza, and other clergies participated in the celebration of the Holy Mass.
Jeppu St Joseph’s Seminary rector Fr Joseph Martis offered the festal Holy Mass on Friday.
Fr Martis, in his homily, highlighted the state of affairs in Christian families where elderly parents are neglected. “The visual media and mobile communications have revolutionized family living where the members get hardly any time to communicate with each other,” he added.
Kayyar parish priest Fr Anil D’Souza and Mudipu Blessed Joseph Vas pilgrimage shrine director and parish priest Fr Roman Pinto participated in the Eucharistic celebration.
Mudipu former parish priest Fr Andrew D’Souza celebrated the festal Holy Mass here on Friday.
Fr Andrew, in his homily, urged the faithful to nurture God-centric families.
Special prayers were offered for the well-being of the sick and the ailing. Free food was offered to all devotees on Friday afternoon. The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and confessions were held all day on Wednesday.
Fr Gregory welcomed the gathering. Mudipu assistant parish priest Fr Vinod Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. Santhosh Omzoor and Lancy D’Souza compered the programme.
Mudipu parish council vice-president Felix D’Souza and secretary Felix Lobo organized the festal celebrations under the direction of parish priest Fr Gregory and consultation with council members.
Eliyarpadav parish priest Fr Reginald Pinto, Bola parish priest Fr Fredrick Correa, and Bambil parish priest Fr Stany Monteiro assisted in the religious celebrations.
