Vizag, Dec 2: The Indian team that narrowly escaped defeat in the first ODI against the West Indies, will face the tourists for a second time in the five-match series for a day/night encounter at ACA - VDCA Cricket stadium here on Friday December 2.
With accurate bowling attack, India had restricted West indies for 211 in 50 overs in the Cuttack ODI. The over-confident Indian top order collapsed suddely in the first 15 overs, and later Rohit Sharma and Jadeja saved India from further embarrassment. India managed to grab a one-wicket victory in their home ground, but not in a convincing manner.
Indian captain Virendra Sehwag has warned the top order not to repeat the mistakes they did in the first ODI. Though star players like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan are absent in this series, the first match attracted full capacity crowd. A full house of over 28,000 spectators are expected in Vizag too.
West Indies captain Darren Sammy is not disappointed with the first loss, but he is proud of his team for giving the Indians a tough fight. "We have a young and inexperienced side, we are improving game after game. It is not easy to defeat the world champions in their own soil. Once cannot forget that India has not lost a single match in India in their last 10 ODIs!"
"But we will give tough fight to India once again, and hopefully this time we will finish the match on a winning note," Sammy said.
So far India has played three ODIs in Vizag, and won all of them. India had beaten Pakistan in 2005, Sri Lanka in 2007 and Australia in 2010 here.
