Mumbai, Dec 1: Perhaps it is the novelty factor, but after Dhunush's 'Kolaveri Di' captured the nation's imagination with its fresh take on music, lyrics as well as concept, it is now the turn of Mumbai CST flash mob to create waves on YouTube.

Flash mob, a new thing in India, is a concept wherein a sizeable group of people of different age groups suddenly break out into a dance at a public place. On November 27 this year, a group of around 200 danced to Rang Basanti title track at the CST station, much to the amusement of the public.

The dance started with a young teenaged girl taking the lead, and soon others also joined in, and step in step, they jigged together. Though it looked impromptu, it was all arranged beforehand.

The flash mob danced to commemorate the third anniversary of Mumbai 26/11 terror atracks, of which CST station too was a target.

The video has already recieved lacs of hits on YouTube, and has become a hugely popular on social networking sites like Facebook as well.

The flash mob had the entire train station come to a halt, with everyone from elderly ladies to toddlers cheering on the dancers and enjoying thoroughly, and many even joining in. Even the police watched with smiles on their faces.

Amazed onlookers also recorded the dance on their cell phones and cameras. The dance attracted a crowd of almost 500, who for once, did not seem to mind stopping their busy lives for a laugh. The spirit of Mumbai was alive once again.

The flash mob was organised by Shonan Kothari. The dancers had practiced for almost a fortnight in advance. The whole show was coordinated with cooperation of the railway officials who gave the green signal for the idea immediately.

The concept of flash mob is famous in the US, and Dubai too has experienced it in its airport and malls.
