Udupi: Catch of Eight Kilo Squid Surprises Fishermen

Udupi, Nov 30: The traditional fishermen in Malpe port were surprised to find a squid weighing eight kilograms hooked to their fishing line. The incident occurred on Tuesday November 29.




This rare squid, caught by the fishermen of King Jesus boat, looks like a mini shark. It is about three feet in length and two-and-a-half feet in breadth. 

The fishermen said that the squids they had caught so far, never crossed the two kilogram mark. In the history of Malpe port, such a giant squid was caught for the first time, they claim.

    Possibly...a Giant Squid,There are eight identified species that fall into the group of giant squids. They are very large in size with the females being approximately 10 feet longer than the males. The average length of a female is 43 feet. The overall design of it is the same as other types of squid. It features the mantle, eight arms, and two tentacles.Some of the more common locations where they have been identified include Norway, New Foundland, New Zealand, and Australia. They tend to enjoy the cooler waters more which is why they are rarely found in tropical regions.This is Strange to be found in Indian ocean..It is hard to count just how many giant squid are out there because of how deep down in the water they live....Nice Catch.

    8 kilo Squid alias bandas? I cant believe it.I do not know how it ventured into Malpe waters. Even the fishermen of King Jesus boat must have been surprised.Well it is one of my most delicious fish and it is very expensive there. Whenever I visit Udupi I buy it from the market. We do not get it in New York except in few Chinese or Korean fish markets. Congratulations to the fishermen of KING JESUS. Good luck and good pictures by DAIJIWORLD.COM.

    This is a deep water squid, which normally does not come to the height of the sunlight. These water animals live in the dark in the ocean. Must have raised to the top by mistake and got into the fishing nets. Bad day for the squid.
