Bellary, Nov 29: Chaos pravailed at the BJP office in Moka road here on the eve of the much-awaited bypoll, when the trigger of a gun went off firing 14 bullets, and injuring ten.
The sten gun belonged to Purushottam, the gunman of corporator Sanjay, it is learnt. Sanjay had reportedly asked for a gunman after he claimed threats to his life.
Sources said that the trigger went off by mistake, and that the gun was fully loaded at the time of the incident.
Ten people who were present at the spot were injured. All of them have been admitted in VIMS hospital.
The Bellary bypoll has seen some high drama, with allegations and counter-allegations between various candidates. It is expected to be an acid test for the Reddy brothers who are backing independent candidate Sriramulu, as well as for BJP and Congress.
Bellary will go to polls on Wednesday November 30.
