Mangaluru, Oct 7: A car caught fire accidentally in front of the market on the main road of Kinnigoli on Monday, October 7.

Jasmin, a resident of Damas Katte near Kinnigoli, had parked the car in front of the Kinnigoli market with another woman and two children when smoke started emerging from the vehicle.

The woman and the two children in the car screamed for help, and locals immediately gathered and rescued them from danger.

Local shop owner Raghavendra Prabhu, along with the help of nearby residents, used a fire extinguisher from a local petrol pump to douse the fire.

Most car breakdowns occur due to neglecting timely maintenance. A simple example is that in India, many people are unaware that tires have an expiration date and must be replaced after a certain number of kilometers. By overlooking this, they compromise their safety to save a small amount of money

It's because the the car was nearby petrol station and the people are able to get fire extinguisher from the petrol pump. If the car was somewhere else they couldn't have been saved. For this RTO should be blamed for not implementing strict rule to keep a fire extinguisher in each and every vehicle. This fire extenguisher should come mounted along with the new car from the company and later should be maintained with tested gas pressure all the time. This way we can save so many lives and the vehicle. But here in India transport department is not bothered about the safety of the people.

Yes, incl smoke detectors -- to give early warning to get out -- Fire once it starts is almost instant and rapid burning - engulfs the whole car --

But we notice that police are catching many 2 wheeler riders for not wearing helmet and nothing else as it is the most easy job and easily add to their records to show work done. No PUC check for any heavy vehicle even if they visibly put out lots of smoken which is more important as it concerns the health of all the people. They neither chk number plate nor the back lights and High intensity headlights as well.
