Bantwal, Oct 2: "The purpose of celebrating Gandhi Jayanti is to embrace the ideals and noble thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi by adopting them into our lives," said Bantwal tahsildar D Archana Bhat.
Speaking at the taluk-level Gandhi Jayanti celebration held at the Taluk Administration Office, Archana Bhat stressed the importance of those engaged in public service following the path laid by Mahatma Gandhi and adhering to his principles.
Bindya Nayak, district officer of the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, noted that Mahatma Gandhi, who fought through non-violence, led a life of simplicity, becoming a guiding force for generations.
Present at the event were deputy tahsildars Rajesh Naik, Divakar Mugulya, Narendranath Mittur, assistant director of the Social Welfare Department Sunitha, along with other officials from various departments. Vishukumar, coordinator of the National Festival Celebrations Committee, and other staff were also in attendance. The event began with floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi.
