Puttur, Nov 26: Relating to the case of murder of two siblings and subsequent recovery of their bodies from River Netravati on February 2009 near Uppinangady, which had created a sensation in the twin-districts, the fast track sessions court here has acquitted all the accused of the murder charges leveled against them. The verdict was delivered by the court on Friday November 25.
Ganesh and Suresh Babu from Palakkunnu in Kasargod district, who were running finance business, were stabbed with screw drivers before tossing their bodies into the river. Manjunath, Radhakrishna, Jagadish and Suresh Babu from Kasargod were charged with killing the duo because of differences over recovery of an old loan.
The accused were said to have been hired to recover this sticky loan by the above financiers, and after they succeeded in recovering the loan amount, sharing the amount became a contentious issue as the recovery agents demanded lion’s share in it. Both the bodies were found floating in the river on February 8, 2009. The policemen had arrested the accused on the basis of records found in mobile phone recovered from the spot.
While Manjunath, Kiran, and Jagadish, had been released on bail, Radhakrishna continued to be under judicial custody. Advocates, Purushottam Poojary, Arun Bangera, and Madhava Poojary, had appeared in the court on behalf of the accused.
