Bantwal, Sep 29: It is encouraging to see that parents are prioritizing the all-round development of their children, and in this awareness, Anganwadi centers play a significant role, said Sachin Kumar, executive officer of Bantwal taluk panchayat. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the National Poshan Abhiyan "Poshan Maah Celebration 2024" held on Monday at the Rotary Hall in BC Road. The event was organized by the Department of Women and Child Development, Child Development Project Bantwal, Rotary Club BC Road, Taluk Stree Shakti Block Society, Bantwal Ayush Health and Wellness Centre, and Sajipamooda.
He emphasized that health awareness initiatives should continue relentlessly and called on everyone to work towards making Bantwal taluk malnutrition-free.
Rashmi, district officer for Women and Child Development, presided over the event. She highlighted that the Poshan Abhiyan is a community awareness initiative aimed at preventing maternal and infant mortality during childbirth.
District project officer Kumar, taluk health officer Dr Ashok Kumar Rai, Sajipamooda Health Centre's Dr Manikarnika, president of Rotary Club BC Road City Sesappa Master, secretary Madhusudhan Shenoy, and president of Taluk Stree Shakti Block Society (R) Shobha Sastan were present.
Jayaram Poojary provided information on the importance of nutritious food and the collection of local food resources, while city health officer Dr Ashwini gave insights on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Taluk child development project officer Mamataj welcomed the gathering. Senior supervisor Shalini conducted the program, while Gunavathi proposed the vote of thanks. Poshan Abhiyan taluk coordinator Navya, supervisors Neeta Kumari, Shobha M, Sujata, Leelavathi, Mubeena Banu, Yashodha, and office staff Yashwanth, Gautham, and Sundari extended their support.
A competition featuring the display of 52 nutritious foods, organized through various Anganwadi centers, was held, and prizes were distributed to the winners.
