Sullia, Sep 30: A bike rider was injured when a Sambar deer jumped onto his two-wheeler on Saturday night at Jalakadahole on the Panja-Guthigaru road.

Tirumaleshwara, the rider, sustained severe injuries to his hands, legs, and shoulder and has been admitted to a hospital in Kadaba. Panja forest officials visited the scene.

Wild animals such as Sambar deer, wild bison, and elephants are frequently sighted in the Panja and Subramanya areas, which are close to the forest. These animals also damage agricultural crops. Sometimes, wild bison and Sambar deer leap across roads in an attempt to cross quickly.

A few years ago, a bike rider was killed when a Sambar deer jumped onto his bike at Kulkunda near Subramanya.
