Mumbai, Nov 26 (IANS): India lost four wickets, while chasing a target of 243 runs, to reach 148/4 at tea on the fifth day of the third cricket Test against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium here Saturday.
India need another 95 runs in 30 overs to win the Test and the series 3-0.
Virat Kohli (20) and V.V.S.Laxman (19) were tackling a resurgent West Indies, who came back well after being bowled out for 134 in the second innings in the morning.
The fifth day track has been encouraging for the spinners, who are getting enough turn to trouble the batsmen.
Though India were themselves to blame for making a mess of the chase, losing the wickets in innocuous deliveries.
Gambhir (12) drove a full length Fidel Edwards delivery straight to point.
Virender Sehwag (60) ran out of luck after surviving some dropped chances, and was finally out playing a reverse-paddle shot off Devendra Bishoo.
Sachin Tendulkar (3) fell to a good catch from Kirk Edwards at short mid-wiclet off Marlon Samuels.
Samuels got the wicket of Rahul Dravid (33) too with Dinesh Ramdin taking another good catch at deep midwicket.
Earlier, spinners Pragyan Ojha and Ravichandran Ashwin triggered a West Indies collapse in the morning bowling them out for 134 in their second innings.
The Test was meandering towards a dull draw Friday, but sprang back to life this morning with Ojha (6-47) and Ashwin (4-34) hunting in pack on the fifth day track.
The two have picked 42 wickets in the three Tests.
