Kasargod, Sep 28: The district administration paid its last respects to Arjun, a truck driver from Kannadkkal, Kozhikode, who perished in the Shiroor landslide 46 days ago. His remains were brought to Kasargod in an ambulance.
District collector K Impashekhar, SP D Shilpa, and others offered floral tributes. Hundreds of people paid their respects as the ambulance arrived at the new bus stand late at night.
The DC and SP consoled Arjun's brother-in-law, who accompanied the mortal remains in the ambulance. Manjeshwar MLA A K M Ashraf and Karwar MLA Satish Sail were also present.
The ambulance travelled the same route that Arjun used to drive his truck regularly. Later, it proceeded to Kozhikode. The mortal remains reached Arjun’s residence at 8:30 am on Saturday. Arjun’s decomposed body was found after 72 days inside the truck below the Gangavati riverbed.
