Kundapur: U S Shenoy appointed as Karnataka Media Academy member

Kundapur, Sep 26: U S Shenoy (U Surendra Shenoy), editor of the Kundaprabha newspaper from Kundapur, has been appointed as a member of the Karnataka Media Academy under the department of information and public relations of the Karnataka government.

A native of Gangolli in Kundapur taluk, U S Shenoy has around 40 years of experience in the field of journalism.

He received his training in journalism from Mysore University and began his career in 1980 as a correspondent for the Navabharat newspaper. Shenoy has also worked as a reporter for The Indian Express, Mungaru, and Hosadigantha. In 1991, he launched Kundaprabha, the first newspaper in Kundapur taluk, inspiring many youngsters to pursue journalism. After Udupi became a district, he served as the secretary of the Udupi Working Journalists’ Association. Currently, Shenoy is the president of the Kundaprabha Trust and the Jai Konkani organization, and has served as the convener of the Panchagangavali Utsava Committee.

Shenoy is credited with organizing the All-India Konkani Conference, state-level Konkani conferences, the Kund Coastal Festival, Panchagangavali Festival, and many other such events. Interested in Yakshagana, arts, literature, education, and social causes, he has been actively involved in several organizations across Kundapur taluk.
