Udupi, Nov 24: Barkur-Brahmavar Nagarika Samiti and members of 23 social welfare and voluntary organizations staged a rail roko at Barkur railway station, here on Thursday November 24 morning, urging the railway authorities to grant halt for Bangalore-Karwar train services at Barkur railway station.
Hundreds of people participated in the protest. A memorandum addressed to higher officers was submitted to Mangalore zone assistant traffic manager Vinay Kumar, urging halt of the Bangalore-Karwar train, so that people residing in and around Brahmavar, Barkur, Sastan, Mandarti, Saibarakatte and nearby regions will benefit.
B Shantaram Shetty, B Sitaram Shetty, B Bhujanga Shetty, B K Hegde, Venkataramana Bhandarkar, Srinivas Shettigar, B Sudhakar Rao, K Satyanarayan Udupa, K P Kanchan, K K Nayak, Vasanti, Gowry Poojarthi, Shoukat Ali, Bharati Shetty, office bearers of several voluntary and social service organizations were present.
