Kasargod, Sep 25: A tanker carrying liquefied gas overturned at Edneer in Kasargod on Wednesday afternoon, causing temporary disruption to traffic but raising no safety concerns about gas leakage.
The tanker was en route from Mangaluru to Kochi when the driver lost control, leading the vehicle to flip at Korikkar Moole near Edneer. Although there were initial fears of a gas leak, fire and rescue personnel, who quickly arrived on the scene, confirmed that no leak had occurred.
As a precaution, traffic on the Cherkala-Badiyadka road was temporarily halted, and local fire and rescue teams, along with Vidyanagar police, were deployed to secure the area.
Authorities stated that officials from the tanker company were on their way from Mangaluru, and a decision would soon be made regarding either removing the overturned tanker or transferring the gas to another vehicle.
Due to ongoing national highway construction, many vehicles, including the tanker, have been using alternative routes through Kumble-Sitangoli-Cherkala for their journeys.
