New Delhi, Sep 24: The Kanara Cultural Association (KCA) Delhi held a grand celebration of The Feast of Nativity of Our Lady - Montiche fest on September 15, at Diocesan Community Centre, Gole Dakh Khana. The beautiful decorations and the array of vegetables enhanced the serenity of the occasion and reminded the celebrations in home town. KCA received an overwhelming participation from KCA members and their families, including new members as well. There was a good response from priests and religious sisters.
The event began with the procession of Infant Mother Mary statue from the Grotto, to show love and devotion to beloved Mother Mary, followed by veneration and the Holy Eucharist in Konkani. The main celebrant for the mass was Fr Anil William Crasta, associate director, Caritas India, concelebrated by Fr Antony Fernandes, executive director Caritas India, KCA spiritual director Fr Sunil Crasta, Fr Anil Walder, director of St Joseph’s Oratory, Daruhera, Fr Thomas Fernandes, Dwaraka, Fr Charles Lobo, SDB, Fr Ravi Sagar S J and Fr Ronald Saldanha, I S I.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) followed a tea break, starting with a moment of silence for departed KCA members. Secretary Godfrey Frank presented the annual report for 2023-24, and treasurer Sachin Vas presented the audited accounts.
A short felicitation programme for children followed the AGM, with children up to class 12th being honored by several priests. The programme included a dance by Regina Serrao and a song by Geona Frank. The event also featured games and a baila song by Vidyajyoti Jesuit brothers, with winners being felicitated by various priests. Vincent Menezes, KCA president, conducted a hamper draw, with two winners receiving hampers from Fr Vincent Crasta, Fr John Monteiro and Fr Vijay Baretto. Merlin D’Silva served as the MC for the programme. Meritorious students were awarded a scholarship by Monsignor Vincent D'Souza.
The event concluded with Fr Sunil Crasta thanking all participants, sponsors, and the executive committee members for their efforts. Approximately 200 KCA members attended the Feast Day celebration. Finally a sumptuous lunch was served to all.
