Canada: Canara Talent Search for Mangaloreans Sees Eager Participation

Canada, Nov 23: Canara Talent Search-2011 was an occasion that brought people of Canara region together to display their skills and talents at the Vic Johnston Community Centre, Mississauga recently. The function was a resounding success with enthusiastic participation from the young and old ranging from 6 to 60 years. The function started with the singing of the national anthem of India led by Manohar Pais and Canada by Alysha Alva.
Sandra Alva opened the show and welcomed the participants and guests. Nilofer D’Souza introduced the judges - leading Mangalorean personalities Oswald Sequeira of Mog and Maipas fame and actor, director and author, Gerry D’Mello author of Do Re Me Fa and columnist for Daijiworld, Mariette Sequeira, a highly successful HR specialist and motivational speaker and Manohar Pais, a dynamic MC, singer and actor.
CWF introduced for the first time talented youth Yohanne D’Souza as the MC for the event, thus fulfilling its mandate of promoting youth, talent and culture.
The flow of the event was meticulous and participants came and displayed their talents in singing, dancing, music and instruments. As the events unfolded the audience were mesmerised with talents pouring from the young and the not so very young. The feedback and comments from the judges were candid and constructive. Not to be left behind, even the judges were inspired to come on stage and display their talents which they did enthusiastically; they also had motivational and inspirational words for the audience as they related and relived their journey to success stories.
The sumptuous lunch catered by 'Turmeric' consisted of the ethnic Mangalorean menu that satiated the taste buds of all gathered. The kids went gaga over the surprise Santa appearance. The crowd cheered when Santa started moving and grooving to the superb Christmas jingles played by DJ Rudii of Soundmax and handed out candies to the children. Santa also pulled out the prize winning ticket of the 50/50 raffle, which was raised in aid of Shri Christa Sharan Ashram, Birur-the Canadian Chapter.
