After winning two silver medals, Gagan Narang finally got hold of the yellow metal, when he topped the podium in the men’s 50m 3position rifle final in the 55th National Shooting Championship at Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex in Balewadi on Tuesday.
Gagan gained a comfortable lead in the qualification round itself, as he scored 1,174 points (prone 398, standing 384 and kneeling 392). Second to him was Sanjeev Rajput, who scored 1,156 (394, 374, 388), while Imran Hasan Khan was third till the qualification round. Imran scored 1,154 in the qualification (393, 385, 376). In the final, Gagan scored 98.0, while Sanjeev and Imran shot 101.1 and 97.1, respectively.
Gagan looked content with his scores.“I am satisfied with the result and my shooting.” In a closely contested men’s 10m air pistol final, Omkar Singh (676.6) clinched gold with a margin of just 0.1 point. Vivek Singh won silver with 676.5, while Om Prakash bagged bronze with 676.4.
