Jamshedpur, Sep 15: The Mangalorean and Goan community in Jamshedpur celebrated Monthi Fest for the first time at the Loyola School campus. Around 45 members participated in the Feast Day Mass, which was conducted in Konkani and presided over by Fr Edward Saldana, along with other priests.
The choir, led by Tr Reshma Rodrigues, sang melodious Konkani hymns in praise of Monthi Sabin.
Despite challenges, the community managed to collect new paddy (Kansyo), which was blessed before the festive vegetarian meal at the Loyola Jesuit community.
The members brought a variety of vegetable dishes, fruits, and sweets, making the meal a memorable one. The celebration ended on a nostalgic note, as participants took home sugarcane, cherishing memories of their childhood in Mangaluru, where Monthi Fest is celebrated with traditional fervor.
