Udupi, Sep 15: A Rashtriya Lok Adalat was organized in various courts across Udupi, Kundapur, and Karkala on Saturday, September 14.
A total of 44,093 cases were resolved, including 32 compromisable crime cases, 273 cheque bounce cases, 11 bank/money outstanding cases, 86 motor vehicle compensation (MVC) cases, three marital issue cases, 151 civil cases, 2,459 other criminal cases, and 41,078 pre-litigation cases. A compensation amount of Rs 27,46,21,144 was awarded.
Justice Kiran S Gangannavar, judge of the chief district and sessions court and president of the district legal services authority, attributed the success of the Lok Adalat to the cooperation of the judicial department, legal services authority, taluk legal services committee, lawyers’ association, police department, revenue department, mining and geology department, insurance companies, banks, clients, and other government departments.
