Puttur: Trouble Over Blasphemous Posts in Facebook

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Nov 21: After news about blasphemous pictures posted on Facebook making rounds came into the open, tension prevailed some time in the town. Youth of an organization also took away a youth based in Kodagu relating to the incident, giving rise to escalation of tension.

Later, a case was registered in the local police station relating to the incident. Local deputy superintendent of police, M B Nagaraj, and police inspector, M Sudarshan, intervened and settled the issue before it could blow out of proportions.

It is learnt that a friend of a student from here, based in Kodagu, had sent some highly objectionable pictures through his facebook account. Soon they got forwarded to many more. This angered a community, giving rise to tensions.
