Puttur: Unmotorable Road - Rai Questions Palemar over Latter’s Silence

Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Nov 17: Dakshina Kannada district Congress president, MLA, and former minister, B Ramanath Rai, questioned the propriety of district in-charge minister, Krishna Palemar, in not convening meetings, and failing to control the contractors and officials, about the pitiable state of state highway development work between Mani and Sampaje since 2009.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, he said during his own term as the district in-charge minister, he had honestly worked to mitigate the hardships of the people. Citing the case in which the engineers of Karnataka Road Development Corporation and contractors had failed to attend the meeting convened by the local MP, he said that the BJP has proved that its government and people’s representatives do not know how to rule, and that they do not have any control over the officials.  He said that the Congress party’s Padayatra from Sampaje to Mani is getting unprecedented support from the people.

Rai refused to field questions over disputes within his own party. He said all misunderstandings or disputes within the party would be solved within the four walls of the party. District youth Congress president, Mithun Rai, KPCC general secretary, Ivan D’Souza, Puttur blok Congress president, A Hemanath Shetty, and others were present.

Addressing a press conference in Sullia on Wednesday, Rai derided the state government for failing to address power shortage problems or sanction houses to the poor. He accused BJP of mustering votes by whipping up emotions of the populace. He ridiculed the BJP leaders for repeatedly getting media mileage for reprimanding officials, and still failing to get anything done.

This press conference was attended by Congress leaders, M Venkappa Gowda, Dr Raghu, Rajeevi Rai, K S Devaraj, and others.
