Bhatkal: First Bangalore-Karwar Train Gets Jovial Welcome

Bhatkal, Nov 15: Yeshwantpur-Karwar (tri-weekly) train which started service from Monday November 14 was received with a warm welcome in the coastal region.

Several organizations including Majlis Islah-wa-Tanzeem, Seva Vahini and Rabita Society and a large number of crowds greeted the train with banners, sweets and garlands at 8:20 pm here at Bhatkal railway station.

Train number 16515, Yashwantpur-Mangalore-Karwar Express leaves Yashwantpur at 07.30 hrs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and arrives in Mangalore at 17.45, and departs from Mangalore at 18.00 hrs, and reaches Karwar at 23.00 hrs.

Train No 16516 Karwar-Mangalore-Yashwantpur Express (tri-weekly) leaves Karwar at 05.30 hrs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and arrives in Mangalore at 10.55 hrs, and departs from Mangalore 11.10 hrs, and reaches Yashwantpur (Bangalore) at 22:25 hours.

The train stops at Udupi, Mookambika Road (Byndoor), Bhatkal and Kumta between Mangalore junction and Karwar. The reserved second seating class fare from Bhatkal to Bangalore is Rs 146.

    Yes, it is damn cheap than the bus ...but the railways should also devise several intelligent strategies to keep this service running non-stop without any impediment. Train commuters to and from Mangalore have always been inconvenienced and agonisingly suffered unendingly mainly because of the unity of the goondaraj activities prevailing in the bus administration on all sectors plying to and from Mangalore. They hate to see the train ruining their businesses and using nefarious activities to demolish the infrastructure of the railway network. Once the spinal chord of the bus mafia and the related goondaism is smashed and broken into bits and pieces, there will be no flimsy unjustified hiking of bus rates in-the-near-future. The bus administration has always been a pain in the butt and this nexus has to be crushed in any way, with an iron hand. However, I long to see the light of that day when bus transportation will die a natural death due to loyal and faithful train commuters switching over to the train services instead buses.

    instead of morning time it is much better the train should be at night time..!!
